Blantyre based music group, Proud, last year November released their second single titled
benzo. It is a song that explains that a guy meets a girl at a party that makes him feel like he is
driving a benzo, which is slang for the automobile Benz. The term benzo is also being used
metaphorical comparing with a hot girl, as the car, with its eye catching beauty, is the most
common of the luxurious cars in the country.
The singer and rapper, Solo Maze and Spyral respectively, released the video of this song a few
days ago. The funny thing is that an old school model Benz was used in the video. Spyral
explains that the choice to use a vintage Benz was deliberate as we are still in the period of
time where retro items are cool and artistic in some sort. The video was directed By Ben Bei of
B & G Films.
